Product Page Has Ominous-Sounding Announcement
I happened to visit the Dell XT3 product page last night and was surprised to see an announcement that the XT3 was "unavailable." The announcement directed potential buyers to to the Dell Duo as a "like or better computer to satisfy your immediate needs..."
I suppose that this could be something perfectly innocent, like an unexpected production delay, but the announcement certainly looks ominous. When the XT3 was formally introduced several weeks ago, and the product page went up, I commented on the odd combination of options (e.g., an i3 processor; seriously
?) and the stiff price (~$1800). Later versions of the product page deleted the i3 baseline in favor of a more reasonable i5, but the price also increased accordingly.
I wonder if XT3 pre-orders significantly failed to meet expectations, and Dell has decided to cut their losses? Time will tell, of course, but if I'm right, I'll be sorry to see the XT line end so abruptly.
