My Tc1100 has fallen to the same garbled video problems seen in threads like this one:
http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/showthread.php?38844-Possible-Graphics-Card-Related-Problem-(TC-1100)&p=327758#post327758

Its pretty much the exact same problem, and it seems really common with this tablet.
I really love the Tc1100, and want to continue using it. I'm considering buying another Tc1100 and using my old one for parts.

My only issue is that this motherboard/graphics problem seems to be inevitable. I don't want to keep buying more TC1100's and more motherboards every few months. Also, since all TC1100's are "used" at this point, there is no way to tell if the next machine may already be in a faulty state before purchase.

For example, I can't get access to the motherboard of my current machine because the screws holding the heat shield are badly stripped. I don't have enough hardware knowledge to get the screws out. No repair shops I know will even touch tablet PCs either.

Is there a way to fix this graphics problem for good? If I buy another machine, will this just happen again?
Does the re-flow/heating method fix this issue for good, or is it also only temporary?

Either way, I want my working TC1100 back. I'm just looking for advice, or someone who would be willing to repair my tablet for me. I'm willing to pay all costs of repair.

Hi, got a strange one here if anyone could offer advice.

Just bought a second tc4400 with Vista basic on it and downloaded and installed the pen drivers and quick launch drivers as the pen activated buttons by the screen were not working.

This got the buttons working but the screen rotate only has two settings.
What i mean is on my first tc4400 with XP installed, when you fold down the screen into tablet mode you can rotate the image all the way round four different settings which is great as i can use it with the power lead facing away from me.

Being as battery time is short (about an hour) i prefer to use it on the adapter when using photoshop.
With the Vista machine im stuck using it with the power lead facing me.

Tried all the settings in the quick launch menu but nothing will make it rotate all the way round like the XP machine.
Has anyone else had this problem? seriously tempted to put XP on this machine as well as i need to use it for design as my old one has a failing screen that has a warm tone that ruins accurate colour balance.
Regards Dave.

I have an LE1600 that has the CPU usage spiking to 100% all the time. This happens when running any program, regardless of how much system resources it needs. I can't even run IE or Firefox without this happening even with a single tab open. Now I am PC technician, and while I like to think I know a lot there are others who are more familiar with these tablets than I am. I play a basic game called Rollercoaster Tycoon. Not 2 or 3, the first game. This runs slow frequently when the tablet should easily be able to handle it. Same thing when I run Baldur's Gate II. I have run CCleaner, and cleaned things out some but I hate randomly trying something until I hit it. If I have some info that points me in a direction that would be more than welcome. Another option that I am loathe to try is getting a new SSD for it. I am tight on funds currently and that is just not in the budget.

I have uninstalled most programs that were on it when I received it. I have debated taking off SP3 but I have a hobby program that I use every day and it requires that. So frustrating.

Anyone have an idea that might help?

Thanks.

P.S: I have attached my dxdiag so that others may see what the exact specs are.

(First, I'm not sure if this is in the right place--forgive me if it isn't!)

I'm having an issue with my Latitude XT's pen. When I write with it, it'll sometimes keep writing when I lift the pen from the surface of the screen.

Attachment 1135
Where I wrote "writing" in green, I had no trouble. That little scribble to the right, though--whatever is circled in red, I had my pen off the screen and, as you can see, it kept writing. The program I was using is Windows Journal, on Windows 7 (64-bit). It has the same issue in MS Paint.

I had this trouble before, and I simply switched to another pen. But I don't have another other pen to switch to. Do you think that changing the pen nib might help? Or is there a setting I can change on the computer itself?

Has anyone else had an issue like this, and if so, how did you fix it?

Thanks!

I sold my LE1700 Tablet PC computer and still have some accessories left over. Here is what is left:

- Motion LE Series OEM External Drive with OEM USB cable and vertical stand, $45 USD

- LE Series Flex Dock with Power supply, $35 USD.

- Motion Universal Cradle, $20 USD. I used this as a screen protector when carrying my LE in my bag. It really provided the best screen protection for the computer. It can also be adapted to a RAM mount for putting the LE in your car, airplane, boat, or other vehicle.

- Mobility PCMCIA Port Replicator, $15 USD, This was nice because I could have all my peripherals connected to the Tablet through the PCMCIA while still having it down on the desk and using it as a tablet. This was helpful when reading, drawing, or note taking on the tablet and working with another program on the other screen. This port replicator is compatible with any computer with a PCMCIA slot.

- Lind Auto/Air Adapter, $15 USD. This is brand new and sealed in the box.

- Motion LE Series Protective Case by Otterbox, $155 USD

Shipping will be extra. I will ship to USA, Canada, UK, and Australia. I will work with you on a package deal if you are interested in more than one item. PM or email me through the forums if interested.

Hey everybody,

I was wondering if anyone has had any success installing a correct nvidia driver in the windows 8 consumer preview. Either the 82.12 driver or the stock HP driver from this page -
HP/TC1100/Windows 7 Installation Notes - Mobile PC Wiki
Both Actually Install fine, but when you try to switch to either of them in the device manager, an error says "This driver is not compatible with this version of windows." Does anyone know anything about modifying INFs to fake compatibility?

Thanks

P.S.
If you need help getting to the consumer preview, I think I have the system down pretty well.
1. start with following all the instructions on that link above.
2. Then make sure to do an "On-Machine" upgrade. (download the upgrade exe from Microsoft's website)
3. run windows update, skipping only the audio and wacom drivers.

Also, I would not attempt this unless you have the 1.2 ghz TC1100 and 2gb of ram. I also own a 1ghz TC1100 with 1.5gb of ram and I was never able to get past windows 7. It was BSODing like clockwork.

Hi,

I recently got a Exopc slate off of Ebay, and it came with dual-booted Win8 (32bit) and Win7 (64bit), so since I got it, I've been alternating between the Win8 and Win7 installations, and I guess that, at this point, I don't really see much point to Win8 (vs. Win7)?

I saw the other thread in this forum (http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/showthre...over-Windows-7), and while Win8 does seem to boot a little faster than Windows 7 does, "from scratch", it doesn't seem to offer much of an improvement overall.

I actually have been rarely booting the tablet (usually just let the tablet sleep), so the boot speed difference probably doesn't mean much to me.

Also, I've seen comments that the TIP is suppose to be better in Win8, but I haven't noticed that either.

Plus, it seems like, when I'm in Win8, even when I start in Metro, I mostly end up back at the Win8 desktop for doing stuff (I use the tablet a lot for viewing Flash videos, which aren't supported in the Metro IE).

It's interesting learning about the various gestures in Metro, but other than that, I'm having a hard time "getting" why I'd want to move to Win8, whenever it does get released.

So, maybe I'm missing something?

Thanks,
Jim
