Thread: I've got a M1300 with a View Anywhere screen on

Default I've got a M1300 with a View Anywhere screen on

I've got a M1300 with a View Anywhere screen on order and one of the main reasons for the VA option is so that I can use it as a GPS in my car. I currently use my PocetPC for this and would love a bigger screen. I purchased the Routis 2004 software since they have laptop and PPC versions in the same package. So far I'm liking it alot on my PPC.

I use a vent mount for my PPC that I'm hoping will be sturdy enough to handle 3lbs of TabletPC. I just need to figure out how to get a hook on the back (kind of like the hook on the back of a cell phone case). I was thinking of buying the slip case and trying to attach something to the back. Does anyone have ideas or a better mounting solution? It's key that I still be able to have a passenger in the car - and no I can't just have my girl sit in the back seat :D.

    Thanks!

Grrr [cry] - Wish I could edit... I want to talk about mounting the Motion in my Car not my Care!

    Greg,

You *can* edit your message. Click the icon that has the little pencil on it.

Also: see this thread about car carriers

Thanks for the link! I only searched Motion Computing - shoulda thought about broading it a bit.

Perhaps you have to be and Avocate General before the option to edit shows up but I don't see a pencil to click. The other (also likely) possiblility is that I'm just thick and am missing it :D

I think the problem is that I can't seem to get logged in. I can post by including my username and pw on the posting screen but when I try to insert an image (I was going to post a screenshot that did not have the symbol you where showing me) I get a message about needing to be logged in. I wonder if it is having trouble with the space in my user name.

    Greg,

You won't see the edit symbol until you log in.

It worked this time! I swear I tried to log in a bunch of times just as you describe but it never logged me in. Oh well, got it now! =)

    Hi Greg -

The commercial solution to this is to look at the line of car mounts from Gamber-Johnson.

    Thanx,

...FWIW...the other day, I was between appointments, and I had numerous errands to run around town. Now, I'm never ready for any one meeting, so as I was running errands, I kept grabbing my Motion from my briefcase on the seat next to me, and making additional meeting notes...you know, at stop lights, while I waited for my drive-thru banking, that sort of thing...

I was just leaning the tablet against the steering wheel, and jotting away. When I arrived back at the office, I printed out the notes, and used them as an outline for the meeting. All this without the view anywhere screen. Ok, ok, it was a cloudy day, and the brightness on my screen is adjusted a bit above halfway brightest, but I was perfectly able to work in the car...and the sunroof didn't cause any unnecessary glare to the regular screen...

    Thanks !!
