Seems that the "pen" capabilities in Acrobat 6.x are very limited. Unless I'm missing something the pencil tool for annotating PDFs is WEAK. Looking to mark up PDFs and email them to clients.

    Anybody have any idea?

    Thanks.

An inelegant solution for a fairly short document is to use the Snipping Tool for Tablet PC (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/t.../powertoys.asp) to clip and paste the Acrobat pages into a Word Document. You can then use Word's pen to annotate the document.

If you have Acrobat, you can then convert it back to *.pdf. If you don't have Acrobat, you might want to try pdf995 to do the conversion (download from http://www.software995.com). The free version hurls you to the software995 website after each conversion, which is no big deal. Or you can pay $9,95 for a license.

    I hope that helps.

You could simply print the PDF to Journal or Tablet Planner, then print back to PDF...

I too am looking for a solution to this problem. Printing to journal converts the pdf into bitmap form and then printing it back to pdf results in a file sometimes five times bigger than the original - and thats before you have even added markup. I've not found an alternative to the "pen" in acrobat.

I'm using ScanSoft's PaperPort 9 Pro Office to work with PDF's. It's pretty capable for marking up documents and forwarding them as email. It's also a lot less expensive than Acrobat.
