Okay, I've tried to avoid posting this, but...

I'm trying to rebuild a TC1000 with a blank drive. I've familiarized myself with Campari's posts, and with those on the tc-one-thousand.com site. I even have the (apparently) rare Disk 2 - in English!

If I read the directions correctly, the early steps are performed to back into creating what I already have, i.e. the TabletPC.cab file.

I made an ISO of Disk 1, opened it up, and copied the CMPNENTS folder from Disk 2 to the root of Disk 1. I removed the MEDIACTR folder, but left NETFX and TABLETPC intact. The WIN51, WIN51IP, and WIN51IP.SP1 files were already present on Disk 1, and I validated their contents.

The Tablet booted off the CD just fine, and went through the entire installation process - but what I ended up with was standard WindowsXP.

It's embarassing - compared to what others have had to go through, my situation seems almost like cheating... yet I wasn't able to make it work. [B)]

Any thoughts? What did I miss?

    GBohlen,

Did you use the licence key on the sticker in the battery compartment. The installation image *will* install standard Windows XP if the licence key (even if accepted) is one issued for a Tablet PC.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I forgot all about using the license key from the Tablet itself, and used our standard VLK for XP instead.

Unfortunately, I used our Volume Licensing CDs to create the bootable Tablet CD. So when I went to try the reinstall with the key from the sticker on the Tablet, it rejected the individual license key.

I need to either get our Tablet VLK or the disks that actually came with the device. I'm optimistic that once I get one or the other, I'll have a successful install.

Thanks for your help - I really appreciate it!
