I'm absolutely amazed at how well these applications run on the M200. Sucks the battery down in about 2 hours if you preview or render often, but quite usable thanks to the nVidia chip.

Am I all alone in doing this?

    Hi Twelve!,
I'm looking to get a new machine in the near future (income and other bills allowing). The M200 interests me for my consultancy roles but I spend a lot of time with video editing as well (Premier 6.5) and I hadn't thought these were suitable. This could be a desktop replacement!!

Do you use the unit for DV capture, if so what do you use for firewire connection, capture hard disc etc. Ill probably end up running Liquid Edition for its integrated DVD authoring& burning. Do you output to DVD?

    Thanks

With a 7200rpm drive, it's quite workable, though Premiere does shorten the battery life to about 2 hours.

I normally accept my source video from DVD, DVDDecrypt it, then edit it in Premiere Pro. You can easily purchase a 1394 PCMCIA adapter. I have about 20GB reserved for video and use a Maxtor 250GB external USB 2.0 drive for when I need to toss more than that around. For DVD authoring, I have an HP 200e USB 2.0 drive, though I'd rather have the <1 pound Addonics DVD +/-R/RW USB 2.0 drive. Because I wanted a bootable solution, I bought the Sony drive, which can only burn CD's.

One nice thing about the M200 is that you can run pretty much full speed on battery. Most laptops only run full speed when plugged into the wall.

RobF, if you do a google.com.au search for "Hitachi travelstar 7K60", you'll find a few local suppliers...
