Text recognition is getting better, but will never be perfect, and going through a document altering all the mis-recognitions is an utter pain.
The point being that the recognition works best in "search" mode, rather than translate mode.
If I write OTTER and make it look a bit like BUTTER, the text recongition will think "did he mean Otter or Butter ?" and make a guess. In ink-to-text the choice is crucial, it is all or nothing. In a search for BUTTER it might think "Ah, that word OTTER looks a bit like it" and give you the search return, but the very nature of a search is that you are picking relevant matches anyway, so the overhead of hitting Find Next is minimal.
