Default After much consideration, reading user comments

After much consideration, reading user comments and scrutinizing specs, I've decided that my first Tablet PC will be the Motion M1300. I'll probably end up ordering on-line via Motion Computing directly.

But before I plunk down a signifigant ammount of $$$, I thought it might be prudent if I saw one up close and personal first. If not an actual M1300, then a close relative would do.

As luck would have it, there is a Gateway store near where I live, and they say they've got their Tablets on display.

The things I'll be looking for to satisfy my curiosity are: Noise (hard drive), screen quality, and overall fit and finish.

Now, I understand Gateway's tablets are nothing more than re-branded Motion Computing tablets. But are the ones they are selling the same as the M1300, or the M1200?

Gateway is a bit slow on the uptake and you might find they onyl have an m1200 or they may not have the tablets out at all. They are really trying to push their m275 tablet. Also gateway seems to be composed entirely of idiots, so don't let them deceive you. Finally any tablet you see at gateway has likely had the crap kicked out of it. The tablets are very durable if handled correctly.

    Best of luck.

I sort of figured those stores would be full of Sales Droids anyway.

This is a lot of dough, but I still want to see one up close first anyway. Besides, I want to avoid my wife blaming me "not looking into things" before plunking down a big chunk of money!

Is there any way to tell on a Gateway tablet if it's a M1200 or a M1300?

A centrino sticker would be a dead give away of an m1300 versus an m1200.

You can also open up system control panel and examine the speed of the processor. An M1300 will be listed as 900 mhz or 1 ghz whereas an m1200 will be 866mhz or 933mhz.
