I have successfully used 2 1GB sticks of 333MHz DDR memory in my M275. The specs and GW indicated only 1GB would work, but 2GB WILL WORK in the two slots (1GB in each slot). I think the chipset will only allow 333MHz memory speed - even if you bought 400MHZ memory it would only throughput at 333, so you'd be wasting your money on faster memory.

As for best pricing, that is a constant variable... there have been other good posts on this forum for trusted memory sources, but I have had good luck with Infineon memory.

    railfanner:

do you know if i can use a 1GB stick in one slot, and keep the original 256MB stick in the other?

if so, does it matter if the memory speeds are different or anything like that?

Yes, you can do this, but there was an issue with using 2 different size sticks of memory in the M275 that is now fixed. You have to update (reflash) your BIOS from the GW support site to the newest M275 BIOS. This BIOS supports the use of two different sized memory sticks. If you don't have this BIOS, and use two different size sticks, you will get a bluescreen and non-boot error. Just go back to either 1 stick or matched size memory and this will correct it, if you don't want to flash your BIOS. But I flashed, and all is working great.

If the memory speeds are different, the memory speed performance will be controlled by the slowest speed stick.

The ones coming from China now are already up to date with the latest BIOS. I installed a 512 in addition to the included 256 and had no trouble with it at all.

thanks for the help Railfanner. I bought Crucial 2- 512mb pc2700 ddr 333 and i will be putting them into my computer tomorrow. Do i have to have the latest bios or drivers to be able to read the ddr333? I didnt update any bios or drivers yet.

    thanks

    Hi Themi,
You should be good to go, regardless of your BIOS, as the M275 works just fine with this memory speed. Since your sticks match, you can install them both and all should work just fine. The BIOS upgrade only matters when you are installing two sticks that differ in memory size.
