Thanks, I already tried that. That is the only way I can turn off the computer because I get no mouse or usb support at all. the keyboard only gives me limited functionality and only before it boots up. I believe it's a driver conflict because it happened after i tried to install an irispen scanner. the problem is that it won't read my cd so i can't boot from a cd and i have no idea how to get into safe mode.
Any ideas?
you should be able to hit f8 on your keyboard while the windows splash screen comes up
You can also try f10 many times from boot up. It will bring you to the hidden partition where WinXp is located. From there you have alternatives to correct the defective winpx tbpc.
Thanks guys.
I tried both f8 and f10.
F10 was working. I regained control of my mouse while the restore wizard came up and I went through the system restore but I got a message that the system files were too corrupt. Then when it rebooted, it somehow lost the operating system. Now when i boot it says operating system not found. The machine won't boot from a card or from the CD even though I changed the settings in the bios.
I think that my only option left is too boot from a network connection but I have absolutely no idea how to do that.
Any suggestions?
