I've scoured Google over and over again and posted at least a couple times on GBM, but I thought I might as well drop a line here too...

But basically, does anyone know anything about the existence or future of a fully-working Vista driver for the O2Micro OZ711Mx MemoryCardBus Accelerator? (It will show up as Base System Device without any drivers installed). This is the memory card reader device on the Fujitsu Lifebook T4010 and possibly T4020 Tablet PCs.

The Windows XP drivers work to a limited extent. They provide read-access to Memory Sticks and Secure Digital cards, but any write access to an MS or an SD card is not working.

This single lack of hardware compatibility on my T4010D is the only reason stopping me from upgrading to the copy of Vista Business that just sits on my desk idly.

Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts short of buying an external card reader? I feel like I'm so close, yet so far. The XP driver provides read access, but it fails to write. I could guess that Vista's more tight security is preventing it from writing, so I wonder if there is a possibility to get it to write with some underhanded tricks... Unfortunately though, this is a very low-level thing that I'd really have no experience in.

I notice that the Acer Travelmate 8100 series laptops apparently use this same card reader. Moreover, Acer provides Vista support for them. But the drivers provided are not recognized as appropriate for the OZ711Mx MemoryCardBus Accelerator (in fact, I think I read a thread where an Acer user wasn't even able to use them).

The T4210/T4215 O2Micro drivers do not provide any help either.

Perhaps I will try to send O2Micro another email (they never replied). Perhaps I might even try my luck with Fujitsu (but the last response I got from them about Vista in general was that they have no plans to support the T4010/T4020).

Any thoughts are appreciated!
