The tips go into the pen. The ring is used to remove a tip from the pen. It is not a spare part.
Sorry - no advice on Q menu. Looked at the setting on my machine but didn't see any tweaks to try.
1. This might be quite naive, but how or when do you use the extra rings and tips provided with the TC1100 pen. It is not obvious to me and I didn't find any instructions. Does the pen separate?
2. My Q-menu will no longer mute the sound. I have the button, but clicking it does nothing. Has anyone else seen/fixed this?
Thanks,
Rob

Glad to hear someone else is having problems with the Q menu mute. It worked fine at one point, but somewhere between installing patches and programs it stopped working. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the Q nenu software, but it didn't work (I used the lastest patch version 2.00B, dated 12 Nov 03).
I verified that I can manually mute the audio via the volume control in the system tray, so I'm certain the problem is not with the audio driver.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?
I too am having the problem with the Q menu Mute On/Off function. I have also tried reinstalling the Q menu program in addition to trying older sound drivers, but so far no luck.
I guess I'll just have to learn to live with it unless someone here can post the solution. My TC1000 just ran out of warranty.
You can add me to the list of those having Q-Menu mute problems. It just started for me in the last few days. I've installed nothing new or made any system changes. One thing I notice is when I press the mute button, there is an app that runs quickly and then disappears. I can see it for a split second in my taskbar. My guess is that it is the mute program running, but it's not working.
I've had an issue with the Q-Menu earlier in terms of turning off the Wireless. Each time I pressed Wireless Off, it still wouldn't do it. A simple reboot solved it though, so it might be a different problem than the mute issue.
Reboot fixed the problem. Since I'm always hibernating, I tend to forget that a reboot is necessary every once in a while. Thanks a million! :-)
Same problem mute not working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled latest Q Menu software and rebooted. Mute still not working on Q.
James Bond would not be amused!
I've found that I don't use the "Tab" button much and turned that into my quick mute button instead of having to route through the Q Menu. Can't say that I've ever tried to mute through the Q Menu since it really wasn't too functional for me.
