My "popping" seems hardware related, as if the pops occur when the tablet recognizes a piece of hardware. This seems to occur most often when an SD card is inserted, and almost never when there is no card.
I have had similar issues with the random clicking sounds. It has only happened to one Tablet PC so far. It has been so bad that the user has been unable to use the Tablet. (Even before Windows starts, the Tablet starts clicking). It is really quite strange, and of course HP deny it ever happening before. (As with the "old" Nvidia drivers, and all of the screen rotation issues, the keyboard space problems....) there are a few "issues" that seem to be known to many users. These are reported on this site and its worthwile spending some time going through the forums to see what people are experiencing. On the whole, the HPTC1100 is a great device, when compared to similar products. My only wish is that HP would get some updates out.

Have anyone find a solution for the fan-on-when-bk-off question?
This is starting to get on my nerves... Fan never comes down in slate mode. :-( If it can be fixed, HP should of come up with a firmware upgrade by now. About time.
I guess no solution was found. I have the same problem with the fan.
It's not the noise that bothers me, it's the battery life. With the fan always on in slate mode, it takes about 30 minutes of run time away from me.
Very annoying. Does anybody have the fix?
