Default where can i send my TC1100 for repair?

I've had my TC1100 for only a few weeks now - upgraded to 2gB memory; 120gB hard drive; 802.11 b/g wireless so I think I know my way around the inside.

Tried to fire it up today and no joy - won't even post. Each time I try to switch on the light (on the power switch) appears to have a different reaction to the power: sometimes it lights green for a second, there is a quiet click and the light goes off; other times the green light comes on and stays on; on one occasion it glowed red!

I'm in the UK, does anyone have an address where I can send it for repair? I pretty sure that the warranty has expired; in any case, my upgrading the internal RAM would have nullified any warranty left.

    Or, even better, any ideas??

PS I've tested the disk drive (via USB adaptor) on my desktop and that's fine.

    Regards

The power switch glowing red might indicate it is trying to run a bios bootable app called Quicklaunch. It's an app put out by HP that lets you look at Outlook data (calendar, contacts, etc) without having to boot the machine.

As for your boot problem, could it possibly be the RAM you installed?

Been working fine with the new memory ... so unless the memory's given up the ghost it's not that. Thanks for the reply.

    @ Chrissss ....

Just happen to have a spare TC1100 (just arrived from eBay - purchased for a colleague). Thought I'd take the opportunity to check with "fresh" memory.

By a process of elimination proved that one of the 1gB modules I purchased has indeed bitten the dust. My TC1100 is up and running again, albeit with 1gB of memory. Last time I buy "cheap" memory from the States (didn't work out so cheap after all.)

yeah, it definately sounds as though it is the RAM, or it could most more likely be the keyboard hinge that is internally screwed in the tablet case, this parts snaps of with the pressure of moving the tablet towards you to far the prongs on the keyboard put to much strain on the internal hinge and causes it to snap which allows the the broken piece which is metal to come in contact with the motherboard try removing it and turning it on.

    Hope this helps.

When in doubt, I always purchase Crucial brand memory. It always works great and if something does go wrong with it you just send it back and they send you a new stick.
Crucial is the only memory that I trust. They use Micron Technologies chips and they very stable.

This is what I have in my TC1100:

No, There are others out there that are OK. The problem is there is a lot of memory out there that as far as I am concerned that is far from reliable. Different brands work better in some systems then other brands and it's just that I have never had any problems with the Crucial brand or any memory that uses the Micron chips which Crucial I think now owns Micron. If you look at the chips on the board they have a MT logo printed on them. They are used on other brands also like Samsung among others. I have experienced problems with cheaper brands and also know of a lot of others that have had problems and that is why I prefer Crucial. This is just my personal opinion but I am sure others would agree.

Never have purchased anything but Crucial since 2001 for too many computers and never have had a single instance except flawless performance. Buying Crucial brand RAM from resellers such as Newegg provides legendary quality, life-time warranty and competitive or even lower prices to no-name or generic.

NEVER buy RAM on eBay from China unless absolutely sure source is solid. A LOT of RAM sold on eBay are fakes (check eBay's own cautions).

I have to admit that I am also biased toward Crucial. Like bmhome1, I've been buying it for years and I've never been troubled with defects; just reliable operation...
