Hey guys, what are they like?
Hey guys, what are they like?
Yeah, I'd really be interested in hearing some opinions from people who have been using theirs. I'm planning on buying a tablet in the next couple of days and this is definitely high up on my list...
Hey everyone, I just recieved my sc-2000 yesterday and here's are my initial thoughts:
Pulling the computer out of the box, the first thing that you notice is that it feels very sturdy both the case and the screen.
This computer has ALL the connections I need, it has: usb x2, firewire, pcmcia, IR, ethernet, modem, screen out, headphones, mic, and docking station ports.
The front of the machine is very classy looking and the buttons feel very sturdy and by the way there are 9 buttons for everything. The directional "nub" is great, it doubles for the arrow buttons and enter is a press of the nub.
I got the fingerprint sensor to read my fingerprint and it seems to work great.
I needed to get the thing set up quickly to start taking notes yesterday and within five minutes I was taking all my notes in journal without any problems.
The keyboard stand wasn't ready when I ordered mine but I got a usb keyboard and a stand free of charge for the meantime.
I didn't get my backup copy of the software but I assume that will be coming with the keyboard stand.
The only complaint I have is that I can't get work done becuase EVERYONE wants to see it!
Any questions just post and I'll try and answer.

Please don't sleep so we can see how long that battery lasts ;)
This machine looks ideal for Health Care with long battery life, 12" screen, slate weight of 3.1 pounds, 4 lbs. with keyboard.
Flyboy,
Feel free to post comments, don't wait for questions. I am trying to decide between a TC1100 and the SC2000. How is the screen, how does the pen feel, how loud is the fan, any speed comparisons (see any delays)
Thanks and keep writing, you have a captive audience here.

Congratualations Flyboy! I am glad to hear your review. I am getting my SC2000 tomorrow(late afternoon). After reading your comments, I am even more anxious to get hands on my SC2000. Like you, I too will receive the keyboard cover later on.
Enjoy....
Hi HRR
SC 2010 I got yesterday.40 GB HDD & 512 MB RAM , battery is going on since last 7 hours and still 21% power remains. I had installed OFFICE XP PRO and it works smooth.
It picked up my Linksys router immediately and range is quite OK.
Bio-metric sensor has got better usage than what I am using ( preventing my girl friend to see my data ! just kidding ) Omnipass software launch at Windows log in prompt and accepts the human finger touch. It is cool.
Centrino 1.2 GHz has better performance than Transmeta and no software patches to download.Intel is leader and probably going to be.
Screen interface seems pretty cool and has light sensor on it. I did try to work out with that but could not.But got help from Electrovaya - Jay explained me nicely and it works ! Also got some cool tips for managing my boss clinical data ! Guy was helpful.
Overall experience with Scribbler is much better than others what we have evaluated.

How is the screen quality? Bright? Clear?
How is the overall build, sturdy?
After having my SC2000 for just over 24 hrs. I think it is the best functional tablet pc in the market. I have used Acer C110,Toshiba Portege 3505, HP tablet pcs in last six months and find SC2000 best so far. Here is the rundown of various comparisons:
Form Factor: Very good, I think without battery, it should be only about 2 pounds and less than an inch thick. Battery attaches at the bottom in portrait mode and makes tpc easier to tilt since most weight is at bottom.(cg goes down). Looks could have been even better but since I don't have the keyboard cover yet, it may look pretty good depending on the cover. I really like its indicator buttons. Also, it will look really good in black color.
Screen Quality: No dead pixels, bright and the best thing I like is that it probably has anti reflective coating. I can see and read it even when it flat laying on table something that I could not do in Acer and Toshiba while HP has the best screen quality for various viewing angles. Acer has best display but only if you look straight in. I had to change display properties of SC2000 to make it more readable, it is very very bright plugged in.
Wireless: Do not use Intel utility for wireless config. Once I started using XP wireless settings. My wireless is working great everywhere in my house. But remember to turn on wireless radio, in Intel utility before trying to configure on your SC2000.(I don't think wireless setting issues are tablet specific issues, its just that intel utility has radio off by default.
Performance: SC2000 came with 256MB and I saw some slowness when multiple programs were running. As we know 256mb just can't run XP tablet, I added 512 MB and it runs just as fast or little faster than ACER C110.
Heat: It runs very cool compared to all other tpcs out there. Acer, toshiba and HP all got hot to the point that I just couldn't keep them on my lap. SC2000 has been the warm at the worst but never so much that I felt that it was hot.
Fan Noise: It comes on more often when it is plugged in. It has too speeds and most often it come on at lower speed and therefore noise is not too bad. Running on battery, it ran a lot quiter and cooler.
Battery: I worked continuously today and over 6 hours running wireless and high brightness(no external devices). I will see in coming week, how long it lasts with intermittent work and wireless turned on.
Fingerprint Sensor: Wow, I love it. It automatically logs you on to websites. Very accurate, very cool and convenient.
Table PC Scroll stick: Very convenient way to scroll. I was tired of using buttons in Toshiba and Acer. HP has a good scroll wheel but this is even better, it works horizontally and vertically.
Screen size: 12.1 is the way to go. Since I was using Acer for a while this screen looks a lot bigger but so much easier to work on and read multiple documents.
Speakers: Two speakers, good quality sound that can also be played loud.
What sort of extended warranty coverage are you able to get on this model bought from the manufacturer? Would it be mail in service? How much did it cost for how many years?
Thanks!
