Aha! I read about this! This is definitely a great idea, but one thing that worries me is how durable the interface to the core is. Because it would be inserted and removed many times, The contacts would very easily get worn down.
If you have $4,000.00 to spare, this nifty little gadget will be available on November 7th. It is not a tablet PC so I’m not sure if this post belongs here. Maybe we need a new section for Mobile Computer Cores (MCC) and Ultra Personal Computers (UPC).

Also, the hard drive is pretty small for your ONLY computer. Its pretty easy to fill up 15 Gigs these days!

Why not have an external USB 2.0 drive connected to the desktop sleeve (or whatever they called it)
Then you could have your essentials on the road and tons of storage space when you plugged it in at your desk or your house.

It's 4 years too late. A vast majority of the business world uses some flavor of windows (like the antelope) - carrying around that clunky brick with it's proprietary connection is just plain silly compared to a something smaller like a 2 GB thumb drive or a 120 gb, 2.5inch, USB-powered hard drive. If the thing had stand alone capability I might be more interested, but right now it's just another proprietary hard drive - but it's super expensive to make up for it! :-)

I think the idea behind it is that your entire computer is portable instead of just your data. The brick is the same size as a PDA. I am not sure how practical this device is either. However, I am not sure I understand your point on how it is just a proprietary hard drive since it also contains a power supply, memory, graphics card, sound card, and CPU (computer guts [borg]).quote:Originally posted by Kupe
