I'm having a problem with SpeedStep that I'm hoping you folks can help me resolve. Some time after installing and uninstalling and then reinstalling SpeedSwitchXP, the SpeedStep function of my M1300 has started acting abnormal. I had installed SpeedSwitch originally because I wanted to get the machine to run at full throttle for certain applications, but later found out that all I had to do was change the power profile to "Always On". Anyway, after all this installing and uninstalling, the processor now gets faster and slower cyclically, even though it's set to full throttle in the power profile. It starts out fine, but then gets slower and slower until it comes to a crawl. Then suddenly, it snaps right back to full speed, but then it proceeds to start slowing down again, then snapping back, etc, ad naseum. Again, I have the profile set to "Always On" or "Desktop", and I've charted the CPU speed and watched as it goes up and down like a roller coaster. I should mention that this only seems to happen with 3d intensive applications. Anyone know why, or what I can do to fix it? Is there a registry setting I can reset? A patch I can install? Anything? Thanks for any help you can give.
