Default After reading a variety of posts I realized my T

After reading a variety of posts I realized my TC1100 has too many startup tasks. I'm sure this is true of many TCxx00 owners.

Perhaps a few of our more knowledgeable contributors could explain what tasks or processes that should be started and those which can be eliminated to optimize our tablet performance.

I have no clue as to which processes are necessary and which are not and I have never seen a full discussion of this topic on this forum.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Get freeware Autoruns that will graphically list every startup process and author making unchecking easy targets harmless and reverting back simple process.

Look for auto-updater combing through every application's options or preferences and deselect all. Both startup processes and auto updaters account for majority of slow desktop launches.

Avoid messing around turning off Services, that is far riskier wrecking total havoc on functions.

It's a simple fact that tablets, by design have many more services in use (50 and higher) than desktop users as used to expecting.

Focus on the two mentioned above and reduce the number of feature apps loaded in taskbar. Some are far better designed and sip little resources and others are huge pigs pulling down the whole OS sitting doing nothing. Task Manager observation reveals those.

Thanks for the advice. Judging by the amount of individuals looking at this thread there is plenty of interest in this thread.

Any other knowledgeable tablet owners who wish to pass on their advice.

    Hi CoopGuy,

I concur with bmhome1, autoruns is an excellent utility.

There are links to several articles about processes on Tablet PCs here:
    http://mobilepcwiki.com/mpc/index.ph...tion_Processes

And yes - don't be overly aggressive turning things off and/or uninstalling them until you know what they do.

You can do a search for the name of just about any process you don't understand and find somebody's opinion about what it does. Proceed with caution - slow is better than not running at all.
