How do people find the Acer's DVD/CD-RW? I am trying to decide whether or not to pay the extra $$ to get the extra DVD/CD-RW. If I don't get it with the Acer, I'll buy a firewire or USB 2.0 battery powered, portable DVD/CD-RW from somewhere else I guess.

If the Acer isn't battery powered, how much does it seem to drain the battery life?

Anyway, just curious as to feedback on Acer's package.

I have the drive and it works like a charm...NOTE: it is not battery powered nor does it run off the Acer tablet...you have to plug it in. It came with my system, but had it not, I would have looked for a drive that did not have to be physically plugged into a wall outlet -- sure takes the portable out of portable pc, huh??

Hmm... I didn't realize that it had to be AC powered. That sucks. I would have thought the Firewire provided enough power...

Oh well. Live and learn I guess.

Thanks for the feedback. Exactly what I needed to know. Guess the search is on for a battery powered external. I'll be buying the Ti instead of the CTi I guess.

Just as a reminder, the Firewire port on the Acer is a 4 pin port, so it can't power any device. I know because I wanted a Firewire web-cam but not if it had to be plugged in. Look at this Sony, I got it and I like it. http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_MPD_AP2...?tag=pdtl-list
Edit: It also has a fifty dollar rebate right now.

Thanks for the input Staggerlee. This looks like a fantastic option. It's a little more than I wanted to spend, but I do get a portable mp3 player too. Thankfully the rebate is good until 9/30/2003 so I have a little time to mull over the choice.

    Thanks,

    Ben
