I assume that if you set it to 15v it will run the tablet but not charge the battery.
tonyd,
I recently picked up an APC tpa90dc
http://apc.com/resource/include/tech...se_sku=TPA90DC
It's a little heavy but seems well built.
It has settings to output 15, 16, 17, 19, 20 volts.
Seems to be working fine with my Toshiba M200, various ThinkPads and the HP TC1x000s.

On a similar note, I noticed that the documentation for the TC1k that the power requirement says "up to 18.5v @3.5A" I assume that these are the requirements to run the tablet and still charge the battery. But what is the minimum that will just run the unit without charging the battery? It seems that the powerpad puts out considerably less than the 18v. Can the TC be plugged in to a regular 12vdc automotive adapter? Although I'm pretty sure that too little voltage won't hurt anything, I'm nervous about trying it. What is the output for that auto/air adapter that alot of people are using?

I use an Electovaya Power Pad 160 Model D with my TC1100. I had a Model B originally but returned it because the adaptor from the Power Pad to the TC1100 had to be held in to keep it connected. The Model D adaptor works perfectly but to charge the Power Pad I seem to have to use the charger that came with the Power Pad not my TC1100 power supply.
I bought a leather portfolio and slide the Power Pad in one side and the tablet in the other and run the whole set-up full power complete with a Sierra Wireless Aircard for upwards of 10 hours straight at a time. This set up works great, lets me work all day and recharge over night. The set-up is slighly more bulky than I'd like but I think that is more the fault of the portfolio I picked rather than the Power Pad - Tc1100 combination.
If anyone is using the Franklin Covey Tablet PC case can you tell me whether it would hold a Power Pad as well as a TC1100? The Power Pad measures about the exact same size as the TC1100 detachable keyboard but it is 1" longer.
kvyoung,
Do you charge the powerpad AND the TC1100 with the powerpad supply at the same time ie. would I only need to carry the one supply?
One suggestion: I slit open the pc side of the executive portfolio, removed the cardboard inside it and now slip my PP120D into it. Its about as thin as I can make the whole thing. What I cannot figure out is if my ppad charger charges both the tablet and the pad.
I charge them separately so have been packing both power supplies, however, I'm pretty sure I could get by with just packing the Power Pad charger. I had no success charging the Power Pad with the adaptor that is compatible with the TC1100, instead I've been using the adaptor that plugs right in to the Power Pad when charging then switch to the tablet compatible adaptor when in use.
Good suggestion in terms of reducing the bulk of the portfolio, I'll have to try that.
