Default Is the TC1000 a slate or convertible? I saw on

Is the TC1000 a slate or convertible? I saw on the HP site they had a mobile keyboard for the TC1000.

I am considering the TC1000 or the Acer 110. Any comments on either? Any news on a new HP tablet?

Where is the best place to buy a TC1000?

    Thanks,
    Rob

The reason why the TC1K is unique amongst TPCs is that it can be a convertible or slate depending on your needs. The keyboard/trackpoint mouse simply clicks onto the bottom of the slate main unit and you have a full sized laptop. To save weight you can just unclip the slate from the keyboard, leave it at home, then walk off to work with just the slate.

To add to that... the keyboard comes with the tablet. You don't have to buy it separately!

I like the term "hybrid". :)

I also like the 'hybrid-factor' and I use it quite often. Sometimes just the slate (when taking notes) or the Laptop (almost fullsize: the keyboard-size is about 90% of a regular one but I don't realize it when writing) when programming.

The only time I use my TC1000 as a slate is in the airplane when I'm using it for chart display.

The rest of the time it's usually used with the keyboard or in a dock.

I wouldn't trade the convenience of this form factor for twuice the performance.

I am in Surgical Sales and stand most of the day. So, I use my TC1000 in slate mode. But, when I get back to my office, I add the keyboard for more efficient input, I love the "hybrid" convenience!

I prefer the Acer all things considered. I have the slate and keyboard with me at all times. The guts of the HP is in the slate and hence the weight is in the slate. To me, my Acer "subjectively," weights as much as the HP Slate alone in my comparison. This weight factor plus increased speed of the Acer and digitizer difference, made my choise Acer. Although I think HP has the right idea with respect to the hybrid form factor.
