Even though I have been incredibly careful with my C100, I seem to have found a way to break it. I really think that the material used is at fault....But that is another rant.
Additionally, I’m not real interested in sending my notebook away..... I never sent in the warranty card.:-( Id also be in real trouble without my acer for a week or so.
Back to the topic. I believe with some patients and skill I could mill a latch out of aluminum, or maybe even lay up a crazy mold with a carbon fiber slurry. [borg]
What does everyone think? I love my machine, other than that damn latch. If Acer wont improve it, I will. Anyone take apart the screen yet?
I assume you are referring to the latch that closes the clamshell in the front and not the swivel hinge latch. My 110 front latch is "weak" too. I can see that anyone in a hurry and even slightly careless could end up breaking it. I would encourage you to call Acer and at least inform them and give them your feedback, for all of us :-)

Agreed. I will plan on pursuing with Acer. Yes, I am talking about the front latch. The notebook side broke on mine. Even though I was EXTRA careful with mine, it still broke. I did close it a few time by simply "pushing" the screen and body together, not pushing the latch is simultaneously. Ohh well....still fishing for opinions.

The trick is to make sure that the little knob on the slate side, facing up, is not sticking up when you close.
Your C100 must to still be under warranty since it is not 12 months old.

Mine is still broken, I haven't decided to send it in yet. Remember when dealing with acer they will pay to pick it up if you bitch loud enough :)

10. I am having trouble latching the LCD to the base unit.
Make sure you slide the latch all the way to the right side (Tablet mode) or to the left side (closing the unit in normal mode) so the locking device is fully extended to lock it down to the base unit.
