Hi.
As I'm building a 54g wireless Lan, I was wondering if I can do the HP Tablet trick of busting open a wireless lan PMCIA card and swapping the internal card in that for the one in the motion 1300?
Yes
Thx.
Bloody Excellent.
:D
Where will you get the 802.11g card?quote:Originally posted by Toekiller

What are the alternative sources you will consider?
Thanks
I believe you need a mini PCI card, not a PCMCIA card. From what little I was able to get from Mobile while researching my order, they won't be adding one themselves until Intel comes up with one, to stay with the Centrino family and get the synergy benefits.

Well thats the trick.
You buy a Laptop wireless 54g card and rip out the mini card inside. Unless I've been told wrong of course.
[cry]
You can buy the Linksys 54g Wireless Router +4 port hub and tear out it's MINI-PCI card inside and put it in your Tablet, that's the general method of doing so. Or buy a 54g mini-pci card from Dell's spare parts.
Toekiller, you want a Linksys WRT54G Wireless router. You then open this up and there's a mini-pci card inside.
Full instructions can be found at http://www.crossbonz.com/TC1000%2080211g/index.asp for a VERY good guide on how to do this. (Yes, i know it's written for a TC1k but it's very similar ad requires very little thought to translate it to your needs to do the same on a Motion.)
I want to get my hands on a Dell TrueMobile 1400 myself. It's a mini-PCI card that supports 802.11 a,b&g. Unfortunately unless you want to buy a Dell laptop to knick one from you can't get them :-(.
James got there just before me hwile i was posting. Damnit! :D
Thx.
Got my wires crossed. Thought the card was from a Laptop card. Oh well. I could happily break open a 35 quid card but not a 100 quids worth of router. ;)
