You can use the second monitor as an extended desktop, certainly with 1024 x 786. Not sure with higher resolution. Probably should not be a problem.
Hi there,
I'm just about to purchase a new Acer C110 Tablet PC and I have a couple questions about connecting an external monitor. First off, I know the resolution on the Tablet's LCD is 1024x768. My question is what is the maximum resolution for an external monitor? I have a 19" monitor right now that I run at 1600x1200 @ 85Hz - will I be able to maintain this resolution with the Acer's external VGA port?
My next question is regarding a "Dual View" type of setup - I would like the ability to have the Tablet's screen AND my 19" monitor running at the same time with one of them being an extended desktop (not simply a duplicate image). Is it possible to do this either with the same resolution on both displays, or (even better) with the native 1024x768 on the Acer Tablet and 1600x1200 on my external monitor?
Thanks for the help!
Steve

Yes, the video card in the c110 is excellent and flexible. The external monitor can be positioned anywhere (top of, next to) the tablet screen and operate at higher res/higher frequency. Don't know if I've tried 1600, but at least 1280.

How do you get the exteranl optoin to work with a C100?

Active, here is a quote from a previous post of mine that might answer some of your questions:
quote:the tablet has 4 seperate display modes for monitoring, notebook only, external monitor only(the notebook display is off), dual mode:the external monitor mirrors the notebook, and extended desktop. One thing about extended destop, you can't move a window to the monitor with the pen, can you guess why? The pen can't move past the edge of the display therefore can't move onto the other monitor, you need a touchpad or mouse to do it. As far as resolution, the video seems to support up to 2048x1536 32bit @75 Hz on the external monitor. I know I was able to display 1600x1200 32bit @60hz and 1024x768 32bit @100Hz on my 17" sony CRT. I don't think my monitor can support the higher rates. You can only support these resolutions when not in dual display, or extended desktop, when in either of these modes, the external monitor reverts to the max display of the tablet.

This answers ALL of my external monitor questions - it is good to know that while using the extended desktop the screen resolutions have to be the same. That was my main concern - I'd really like to be able to run the Acer C110 in native 1024x768 and my 19" CRT at 1600x1200 but that won't be happening. I was contemplating selling my 19" CRT and grabbing a 15" LCD. I think this is what I will do since native of a 15" LCD is 1024x768 as well. Thanks for the info!
