    Default Graduation Gift

    Fellow tablet pc fans:

This will perhaps require some help concerning older tablet pcs or perhaps a newish tablet pc for a High school graduate going to college. The Student will be enrolling in general ed and also cultural education along with several languages. The main 2 things is that the tablet pc should have a keyboard attached and that it should also have battery life - that lasts 4 hours at least - person could use swappable batteries if needed.

I'm thinking about $200 for a used unit. It's a bit thin, but that is what our combined efforts so far might be able to manage. If we get more people in on the deal then perhaps more. Let's stick with that for now, but do mention what you think might also be good if one could get up to $500

I'm not aware of anything but an HP TC1100 or similar and I know you are already familiar with that.

You might be able to get an HP 2710p for that price, I've seen some that low around here. That should give you something near that run time (my 2730p did 5 hours on the internal battery) and then you always have the option to add a slice down the road. You're already very familiar with the HP line, and the 27xx series is really slim and portable as far as convertibles go.

That is exactly the unit I was considering for this person. We have a tc4200 that runs around 4 hrs, but my student doesn't push it enough.
