tc4400 xp install problems ubuntu fine

Our latest trial was xp pro sp3 loaded unto drive using fat32 formatted drive- it booted all the way mup.sys file and then did a reboot. That is the closest we got about 40 files to load/run until it glitched. So we suspect a bios hack or defective bios. The newest version of bios to flash it from hp oem bios update requires you to be in windows and not from boot bios- we downloaded direct from the site. We can access bios, we just can't flash update it. I think our solution is to look for a different unit - do you have one for sale? Back to ebay.

This is from the link I had in the other post. I think the bootable cd or usb thumb drive can be made on another windows system computer. Then put it in the 4400 and set the bios to boot from the cd or usb that you made.

We've done a dos bootable disc, but we'll take one more look at this. However, we solved this by purchasing a tc4200 from ebay.

Is the battery still good?
Also I found something else. According to this spec sheet it might only be good up to a 100 gig hard drive.

I think techie hubby is still going to try a few things the battery holds only 1/2 hour as I've been trying out with Ubuntu
