Default How To Reinstall Dell ControlPoint on the XT2

    Installing Dell ControlPoint
    14 April 2011

The twelve components of Dell ControlPoint (CP) are:

    <> CP Security Manager Application
    <> CP System Manager Application
    <> CP Connection Manager Application
<> CP Connection Manager WLAN (Intel) Driver Pack
<> CP Connection Manager WLAN (BroadCom Win7) Driver Pack
<> CP Security Device Driver Pack
<> CP Connection Manager LAN Driver Pack
<> CP Connection Manager WAN (Modem) Driver Pack
<> CP Connection Manager WWAN (Mobile BroadBand) Driver Pack
    <> ControlVault Firmware
    <> CP Connection Manager HTML
    <> ControlVault Utility.

Dell Tech Support recommends the installation order below. Note that if your tablet does not have one or another of the hardware components (for example, the telephone modem), then you do not need to install a driver for it. The tablet must be restarted after each installation:

CP Security Device Driver Pack (must be installed first)
    Restart
    CP System Manager Application
    Restart
CP Connection Manager LAN Driver Pack
    Restart
CP Connection Manager WLAN (Intel or BroadCom) Driver Pack
    Restart
CP Connection Manager WWAN (Mobile BroadBand) Driver Pack
    Restart
CP Connection Manager WAN (Modem) Driver Pack (If Installed!)
    Restart

You can now load all applications; the order is not important, but I recommend that if you install the ControlVault Firmware, do it last...

    CP Connection Manager Application
    Restart
CP Security Manager Application (May ask you to update / reinstall Control Vault F/W)
    Restart
    ControlVault Firmware
    Restart
    CP Connection Manager HTML (Optional)
    Restart
ControlVault Utility (Optional - recommend this one be last)
    Restart

If you happen to be one of those people that believes that less is more, then the lightest, or leanest, installation of Dell ControlPoint is:

CP Security Device Driver Pack (restart after every step!)
    CP System Manager Application
CP Connection Manager WWAN (Mobile BroadBand) Driver Pack
    CP Connection Manager Application

Per Tech Support, the broadband card simply will not work right without the Connection Manager being installed!
