You can't adjust the brightness from the power setting option. You need to open QMenu and select Brigtness, you can then increase it and decrease it with the jog dial.
For today at least...
How do I adjust the screen brightness on this thing?
When I go into the power settings, the brightness options are greyed out regardless of which profile I choose.
Is there a different way to change the brightness, preferably on the fly?
Thanks,
-Dan

mcmitch is correct. It also controls volume, monitor settings, lots of stuff. Just wanted to comment that as a new TC1000 user it is worth your while to spend some time in QMenu looking around. Note that you can add additional items, remove those not used as well on the settings button.quote:Originally posted by mcmitch

Is there any way at all other than the qmenu for changing brightness
I wish the volume control on the q-menu worked in the same way as the brightness control. Sometimes it takes a while for the Volume mixer to appear and then you have to use the pen to move the sliders up and down, or press tab and then the jog dial I suppose, but you still need to be able to get rid of the mixer afterwards.
Also there is a problem with the brightness setting. If you press the q-menu button again while the brightness dialog is displayed the q-menu disappears and the dialog remains. If you press the jog dial in to close the dialog the jog dial still stays controlling the brightness.
Very annoying when you want to get back to scrolling down a web page.
Q-Menu also crashes when this happens and the jog dial is stuck on brightness.
To get it back to up and down you have to restart q-menu from the start menu, press the button to make it appear. Select brightness using the pen and then press the jog dial in to close it. Then you can get back to scrolling that web page.
Q-Menu is a good idea, I hope they fix this bug, add a volume control tool and make it a bit faster.
I agree with you on the comment about the volume control, however i do not have the bug with the brightness control that you describe. On clicking the jog dial, both the QMenu and the brigtness dialog close. Have you tried installing the latest version of the software?
Yes, if you click the Jog dial after adjusting the brightness it works properly. You get the problem if you press the q-menu button while the brightness dialog is visible. I have installed the latest version of Q-Menu. Sorry if I didn't explain it very clearly.
i have the same problem apout the brightness menu... it's ok if u dun press the q menu button when the briightness menu is on
I got the same problem with the brightness and the q-menu... After I closed the brightness control, the jog dial still controlled it, even though there was no dialog box. The q-menu did produce an error.
Launching the q-menu again and selecting and closing the brightness dialog box corrected the problem. Not a big issue, but just an FYI.
I too am running the newest version of everything from Compaq and Windows Update.
Sounds like a bug that should be fixed then. Its very easily reproduceable.
