Thread: Does anyone know anything about the LS800 model that can assist me?

  1. Default Does anyone know anything about the LS800 model that can assist me?

Hi, I posted this in another forum but I'm in a hurry to find someone that knows something about this model before I make a purchase.

Is there a view anywhere screen for this model? Does the screen wash out at certain angles?

I'm trying to make a decision if I want to buy one off Ebay. I like the small size. I mostly want it for note taking and a little photoshop. If upgraded with SSD and 2GB ram does it run photoshop without lagging? Is the screen grainy at all?

I have a TM2 tablet with really poor viewing angles so I don't want to buy another off ebay with no option to return it.
    Thanks!

Or can someone point me to a model under 500 with good screen 8, 10 or if I have to 12 inches. I rather have smaller if possibly. It also has to have wacom. I keep hearing about Hydis screens. Which models have those? Either Motion or an older Fujitsu maybe.

Thanks hopefully for the help! :D

LS800 has a View Anywhere option.

    I have a LS800, LE1600 and LE1700 x 3.

The LS800 is too small and too underpowered for Photoshop.
I don't think it would be entirely suitable for sketching.
I also don't think that it would be good to take notes on ... unless they were short notes.

The bigger LE1600 with View Anywhere has a great screen, more screen real estate, and a better CPU.

It is of course, bigger than the LS800. The LS800 is too big for a pocket so you'll need a carrying bag anyway.
Motion LE1600 VA, Motion LS800, Toshiba M200 x4, Motion LE1700 VA. Plans: more RAM, better HD/SSD. Need another LE1700 UltraView Anywhere.

    Thanks, that helps a lot.
So the LE1600 has great viewing angles if I get the anywhere. But the LE1700 only has it if you get Hydis and there is no way to find out just by looking at it at the auction?

I think I sent off 5 emails asking to see more pictures from different angles with only one response so far.

Is the LE1600 using a Hydis or a IPS panel?

    Thanks!

    <<...Is the LE1600 using a Hydis or a IPS panel?..>>

...I believe that the LE1600 is too old to have used IPS technology. However, I seem to remember that the LE1600 may have had other display options besides the Boe Hydis display...

I presume the latest chinese ipad competitors Like 4-7" tablets/MIDs with 600-900 mhz ARM processors, which are priced in 100-250$ price range could do it better for you. Some of them do have bright screens and good viewing angles, if we are to trust random users' reports.

After those gadgets have appeared on the market last year, I have written off LS800 for me.

I think, however, that after an upgrade to SSD LS800 could be able to run Photoshop properly.

I actually have the iPad. I think 90% of what I use it for is to check news feeds. Inking is worthless, the art programs are ok but I need more precision with the pen. If you've used Wacom, nothing else really will do. My TM2 has terrible viewing angles but the wacom pen is excellent.

I'd also like to use more robust programs like Microsoft Office and OneNote. I could wait a few months until the new stuff starts coming out but for light art, note taking, writing..I really don't need a 1000 dollar machine if I can get it from a 300 machine. I have other laptops for any heavy duty applications that may crop up.

I think I saw a video DigitalDoc put up on youtube showing the viewing angles of the LE1600. That was perfect! Exactly what I was looking for in a screen.
