Thread: Acer C300 & XP Tablet OS

  1. Default Acer C300 & XP Tablet OS

I have acquired an Acer C300 tablet notebook sans a hard drive (school auction) I have installed an IDE 80 gig in it, and its all good. NOW, heres the rub, I D/L'd a supposed Windows Tablet OS, it was 2 CD's total. I never had to use the second CD at all. Now the OS does say "Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Version 2002 SP2" in General tab under "System"
But no "tablet" functions at all, Pen doesn't work and all it looks like to me is just a regular XP Pro install on this thing. I have gotten all drivers & Apps for this model from Acer, but no luck w/ Tablet functions at all. Now the 2nd CD only has this on it:
CMPNENTS (directory), then in that is:

    MEDIACTR (directory)
    NETFX (directory)
    TABLETPC (directory)

in each of those are i386 folders w/ compressed setup files, but I never was asked for or needed this 2nd disc during setup. Do I have some sort of homemade disc set that somebody put out there??...I have the legitimate Product Key for this notebook, and the install wouldn't take that number as well. The download came w/ a product key that worked, but
a.) I need to make this legal
b.) I need to get the tablet functionality working

anybody have a clue what i'm doing wrong, I appreciate any feedback on this paltry dilemma,
    Thanx all!

Sounds like no tablet drivers installed.

Try downloading the drivers from acer here

well, please let me know if you figure it out- I like to learn new stuff. You never know when it will be my turn to have i386 folder woes!

All the best I'm sure digitaldoctors or tabletron might be able to help or some of those acer tablet devotees.

Excellent! Another happy tablet owner- oh and if you don't have the following grab a copy of ms experience pack from microsoft and also the student pack there are some fun things in power toys as well from MS. My personal favorite currently is a product called gobinder- simpler than onenote. :) And do come back - I'm fairly new myself to tablet pc buzz although I owned a tablet for a few years.
