Thread: Took the plunge but I have some questions

  1. Default Took the plunge but I have some questions

I've always wanted a Modbook or Cintiq but they were just too expensive. The other day I hit upon this forum. Did some eBay looking and found a deal on a m1400 for $175. I figured why not. I still wanted to do some research but figured I'd put in a bid and heck if I didn't win. I can't wait for it to show up.

I'm curious. Will this work with my Wacom pen? Lik can I install the wacom driver and use that? I thought I saw somewhere that the m1400 used wacom technology but couldn't find any real documentation on that.

Second will this run Photoshop C5? This tablet has a 1.1ghz processor and 1.5 gb ram.

I'm mainly hoping that this will run Sketchbook Pro with some pressure sensitivity. And run CDisplay so I can read comics on it.

Bonuses would be Photoshop and playing some streaming content from Hulu and Netflix.

If anybody has any help/advice/knowledge so I could know what to expect. Thank you so much.

Two: See this discussion about Wacom pen compatibilities and incompatibilities:

Note: Intuos, Graphire and Bamboo... not compatible!

Thanks for the link. I'm wading through the thread. You are of course right and the Graphire pen does not work. I had to try. LOL. So for those of you hardheaded like me and install the Wacom driver and then find that you've lost all pen abilities and cannot control the tablet here is how you fix it. Turn on the tablet then before it turns on all the way cut the power. Then turn it on again. This will allow you to boot into safe mode where you can uninstall the Wacom driver.

So far I am loving this thing. Sketchbook Pro runs great on it. And reading comics are a dream come true. My only problem is Photoshop doesn't recognize pen pressure. I've looked around online and have found no fix. Manga Studio seems to work but that program always seemed counter intuative to me. I might try and figure it out. There are plenty of tutorials online.

The pen does kinda suck. I'm thinking of the Fijutsu pens.

    Best $175 I've ever spent.

Apparently, this pen is "out of stock," and has been for a while, but it might be another alternative worth considering (although it is quite similar to the Wacom pen, as the thread mentions...).

Quick search on Ebay found it for $35. Hmmmm. That pen looks good too and if its like my Wacom then I'm sold. I've loved drawing with that since day one. Thank you.

How do you carry your Pens? I mean are there cases for them. I seriously doubt this pen would fit in the m1400 pen silo.

...I typically keep my tablet pen in its garage and use one of my spares instead for day-to-day use. I typically carry the spare in a pocket of my tablet case. Interestingly, I've never lost a pen. And you're right; the Axiotron will not fit in the m1400 pen garage...
