    Technological Features of AFFS+:

    * Viewing angle: 180 degrees in both axis
    * Brightness: 340 nits (vs. others at 190, 180, 170)
    * Contrast Ratio: 600:1 (vs. others at 500:1)
    * Backlight: LED (vs. others with 1CCFL)
    * Battery life: 20% longer than typical displays

    is the F5V Hydis appreciably better ?
    Motion LE1600 VA x2, Motion LS800, Toshiba M200 x4, Motion LE1700 x4 and a TC1100 with dock just for nostalgia. No Ipads.

    The LE1600/1700 VA Hydis screen is very good but the F5v is much better. I think it is interesting, the specs you listed, especially nits, because that is the way brightness was traditionally measured. I have seen, over the last 18 months or so, that companies interested in providing outdoor viewable display have focused much more on reflectivity, specifically in reducing it.

    Making the screen as bright as possible was a good solution in the past, but it had the side effect of reducing battery life and increasing heat production. By focusing on reflectivity, display manufacturers are reducing the glare that comes from the sun or overhead lights and this makes a drastic improvement in the viewability. It has the positive effect of allowing tablets to run cooler, longer because the backlight isn't turned up so bright.
