Default Hard Drive. Who makes the highest capacity 7200rpm IDE drive?

Who makes the highest capacity 7200rpm IDE drive?

I already have a 100GB Hitachi Travelstar, and would like something bigger.

    Thanks in advance.

All 7200rpm PATA drives have been long discontinued. Samsung's 5400 160GB PATA drive works nearly as fast in direct actual comparison tests. Formatting above 120GB on 1100 requires partitioning. I got 40/40/69 (total usable space) using Acronis True Image easily. Others have struggled to get similar outcomes. There's ridiculously long thread on the topic in 1100 forum history.
    100% Old School tablet setup:

    Sahara i440D - 4GB/500GB/7200 - Vista screams!
    HP TC1100 1.2 - 2GB/160GB/5400 - Vista - portrait - primary computer.
    HP TC1100 1.2 - 2GB/160GB/5400 - Vista - primary work computer.
    HP TC1100 1.0 - 2GB/60GB/7200 - XP - laptop - partner's primary computer.
    Acer 303xmi 1.6 - 2GB/100GB/7200 - Vista - laptop - work computer.
    Motion M1300 1.0 - 2GB/60GB/7200 - Vista - semi-retired (needs repair).
    Motion M1300 - for parts.
    Motion M1400VA - awaiting resurrection.

Can you recommend one of these Samsung's on NewEgg? I've taken some time and added Ubuntu to my tablet and now need more space than the default 40 gig'r. Hell I'd like to add OS-X as well if it's possible... but I should start another thread for that one.

HERE are all the 5400 ATA notebook drives at NewEgg. I've had the 80GB Western Digital for quite a while now and am very happy with it and have a ton of free space left. The Samsung specs look about the same. The 250GB Western Digital is on sale at the moment for $80.

Thanks VERY much for that link. I am pleased to see that they make quite large ATA drives; just a pity that they aren't 7200rpm dirves.

What I would like to know though is, if I use one those big drives, say a 250GB drive, as an external drive will there be any problems with addressing the entire disk space? Or do I have to partition into smaller drives?

    Thanks in advance.

no you shouldn't have problems, at least none caused by the TC.

Good stuff, thanks much man. The 160g would work wonders in this.
