    Hello everybody,
after testing the RC with the information in this thread, I am now running the RTM version of Windows 7 on my M200 (I got a copy through my MSDNAA account). Good news, no flickering anymore, no problems with hibernate and standby, so no brightness changes are needed anymore. Rotation works with installed Common Modules for Vista from some Tecra Model (h**p://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1707 185xml&sliceId=&dialogID=94770013&stateId=0%200%20 68739500). Just one strange thing. I can't access the M200 via Homegroup over the network. "Normal" sharing does work.

    Default sounds FANTASTIC

which Nvidia drivers are you using?
does the second screen work without any trouble?

  6. Default

I think it's 97.54. In the mean time I found some minor issues. Rotation and Fn-button-suppoert does only work, if you let the system boot unrotated and wait with rotation of the screen, until the Flash-Card-Program has loaded completely. Then it works without any problems. Multimonitor support does work, if you connect the monitor after booting. Sometimes the screen stays black after resuming from standby, but if you change the brightness via the Fn-buttons, the screen works normally again.

    Hi,

    Sleeping, rotation, joystick menu ...
After installing many video drivers i am insllaling the 46.44 version.
Works without aero, performence test can't finish but error and when i use rotation i have a error : Entry not present : NvCplHandleDisplayChange in NvCpl.dll
Only cheek and all is good.

It not a proper installation but many test ...

With other drivers, i have looking that the joystick don't works after sleeping and FN fonction. For my it not possible to use the FN+Fx for motified. Screen is always black.
I have vérified this bug with key for "sleep" again the M200 and at the second time screen is ok. In menu joystick ( by pannel config ) only 7 item no brigness ! ! With anther drivers, joystick is ok but no brigness ! !

  9. Unhappy Windows 7 and m200 from 2003

OK, so for those that are struggling with the Windows 7 Retail (I have Ultimate but I don't think that plays a role).

I kept installing Windows 7, with the latest Toshiba drivers (meaning they are all older than 3 years old) and with the various nVidea drivers using the modified inf files.

Sometimes within the hour, and sometimes after several days, Windows 7 would always fail to boot. It would always say cannot find OS Loader. Automated Repair and System Rollback wouldn't work.

So after trying multiple combinations of drivers and such and stubbornly reinstalling Windows 7 what seems like 10 times or more I decided I would install only Toshiba drivers that were absolutely needed. Meaning only the Toshiba SD card drivers. I did not install the bluetooth stack or the Bluetooth software (bluetooth mon) layered above it. Did not install the nVidea drivers or the Toshiba Value-Added package or any other SW or drivers from Toshiba meant for Windows XP.

For the wireless driver, the IR driver, and the sound driver, once you connect to MS Update, it will install working Microsoft versions of these. To do that you can use a USB wifi stick (I used Cisco-LinkSys) to connect the 1st time or the built-in ethernet NIC. The Wireless built-in doesn't work out of the box.

I'm pretty sure now it is the Bluetooth software that was causing the problems. Especially since the Bluetooth and the IR are sharing resources, probably in a non-Windows 7 allowed way. I am not going to risk installing the other drivers given the trouble I have had and the number of re-installs I did.

I have 1400x1050 resolution @ 16bit (High Color) and everything works well except I don't have bluetooth or those funny Toshiba buttons beside the screen.

Of course the M200 I have is 6 years old now so maybe later ones came with hardware that works better with Windows 7.

Now I like this tablet but would like to upgrade next year if anything better comes out (iTablet I hope, MS Courier I hope) but in case it doesn't I've upgraded the disk to 320 GB, the RAM is at 2 GIG for a while but tell me is it possible to upgrade:

    1. video card that supports Aero?
    a. If not is it possible to upgrade video RAM to support Aero?
    2. CPU to more modern mobile CPU?
    3. RAM to 4 GIG instead of 2 (seems that's what SW is designed for now)?
    4. Bluetooth to something supported out of the box?

    Thanks very much.

    Hi,

The first time very problem with message "Stop service ..." again and again ...
I have installing NHC but my ORIGINAL version is a 2Ghz and very hot !
( i have installing Silver 5 and mod the second fan, connected with the big, the first )
The M200 have a little fan and 2Ghz is limit. Other solution is overclocking :
    benchbrothers.de/forum/thread.php?postid=179
    76.12.76.4/showthread.php?p=316308
For installing C2D, is not the same socket !

For Bluetooth, Toshiba stack is %^&è, and you can installing the MS Stack without problem.

Before Windows 7, i have read in a Forum a solution with AGP Aberture memory and a techninic with a driver for change it. But not in Bios same as a motherboard. I don't found again this Forum tread ... i am searching ...
This technic is for Vista and i don't install Vista on my M200 but lost the tread ...

Some Video driver can active Aero, without Video Ram it is more time for swithing video page and some black screen. And many other problem, rotation, sleeping ...

    4GB ? I have installing 2BG 1 year ago and not found 2GB module.
Have you found 2BG modul ?
    On eBay i have found ONLY 2GB KIT ! ! ! ( 2 x 1GB ) some searler is not clear like this item : 140355182793
( you can copy/cut the number is searching zone )

This week, i format again my CF 16GB and copy Windows 7 on it for a new install.
I boot on it with a PCMCIA CF adapter, like a HDD.
