Thread: M200 "the user is not authorized to upgrate bios"

  1. Default M200 "the user is not authorized to upgrate bios" (Solved)

    Portege M200-(PPM20A)
To run the BIOS update program under XP, you'll need to install
    Toshiba common module first.

WINDOWS XP Toshiba Component 6.01.01.TE Toshiba Common Modules
    2.47Mb M200TComModXP.exe(from w w w.toshiba.com.au/ support page.)

I tried to update M200's BIOS from 1.3 to 1.8 several times under XP logged as administrator, everytime I'll get this error. There's no password set in BIOS.
    Finally I found this thread w w w.technologyquestions.com/technology/windows-xp-tablet-pc-newsgroup/6305-re-bios-update-portege-m200-problem.html

You'll need to install Toshiba console first(maybe Utility,Toshiba Utility as well).
WINDOWS XP Toshiba Component 3.03.00 Toshiba Console
    1.07Mb M200TConsoleXP.exe
Then you can perform the update without problems. No need to get a external floppy.

    Regards,
    Vincent
