Thread: Choosing a touchscreen tablet

  1. Smile Choosing a touchscreen tablet

Hi! I'm new to this forums. Actually I registered a couple of years ago then lost the site. Finally I found it again.
I've been planning on buying a tablet pc since 2006, but the choice of products baffles me and then when I'm close to deciding, more new products come out and I'm back to researching.

Could you guys help sort this mess for me?
I own a touch screen toshiba 350e pda which I use mainly for reading and note taking. The touch screen is so convenient that using the keyboard on my desktop has become combersome.

Along the way I've considered several tablets that include:Fujitsu slate 5xxx, fujitsu p1960, kohjinsha and samsung tablets.
The asus Eee 1000 and some other netbooks fit the bill except I discovered that none have touch screeen.
I came very close to buying a fujitsu u810 on ebay but I backed out in the last minute(just 10 bucks short of the winning bid) Thoughits good for reading it can't be a substitute for the desktop at home. (My family travels a lot)

What I want is a tablet 7 to 10.2 inches
    indoor/outdoor screen
a DVD is nice but not necessary
    touchscreen is very important
    bluetooth
    card reader for SD/MMC
at least 5 hours of battery life
    more than 80 GB storage
there might be other demands which I've forgotten about right now.

I'm planning to use it mainly for studying (reading and homework) Office (word and access mainly)
editing home videos and surfing, keeping track of my 2000+books library and my DVDs and someother stuff like that.

Also could someone explain the differences between all the various kohjinsha models?
    Thanks in advance

dano: A number of interesting new product have been seen at CES over the past couple of days.

In particular, you might be interested in TabletKiosk's eo i7300 (middle of this page):

Thanks steve, I'll check out the tabletkiosk. I was thinking the same thing:waiting to see what the CES would produce. In my experience the CES conventions usually bring out new stuff and also kill older stuff if not at least prices go down on the older stuff.
