Hello
I recently bought an m1400 and found this thread. After some trial and error I finally got Win7 going on the m1400. Here is a link to a driver pack I threw together from all the helpful posts here: megaupload(dot)com/?d=XLORRWN2
It contains
- wireless nic driver
- video driver with instructions on how to install + rotation registry fix
- audio driver
- modem driver
- win7 update for fingerprint sensor
- button driver
After installing everything in this order my tablet functions as it did in xp, with the exception of when i hit the dashboard button it brings up the Windows Mobility Center instead of the Motion Dashboard
Cheers!
that is a most excellent pack!
thank you very much!
Just wanted to let some folks know I have gotten an official Win 7 Home Premium install working with the video drivers (previously had RC working great, but time was up...) It took 2 tries installing in compatiability mode and the registry entries must be completed to get the rotate working. I took out Bluetooth in favor of wireless N, so the dashboard is not so important to me. The last thing I was hoping to get working was the fingerprint reader. Running the Asus drivers as mentioned earlier in the thread enables the swipe option at the log in prompt, but when I go to the Win 7 biometric devices to register my digits, it say no devices are avaiable, even though I can see it reported as working in the device manager. I'll post if I do happen to get it working.
The m1400 is still kicking after 5 years. Sadly, there is nothing to be done about battery life. Put in an SSD hoping it would help out, but I didn't notice much of a difference.
The new offerings from Motion look nice in the feature dept, but I can stomach dropping so much $$ on a new machine which is not substantially smaller. Plus, I like the screen proportions of xga better. For some reason, the wxga screens which come on pretty much every new model seem too narrow and cramped for notetaking.
Could a moderator please tell us if the link is valid or not. Not that I don't trust rollerbabe but I'm naturally cautious.

A quick question about installing Win 7 on the 1400. I don't have an external CD drive for mine as of yet. Was wondering if it's possible to install using a virtual drive program?
