Thread: 802.11n on a m1400?

  1. Default 802.11n on a m1400?

    Hey Folks,

It's been a while since I used my tablet and, since then, I got an Airport Extreme with 802.11n. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to get the m1400 on the main network (ie. driver, wifi module, etc).

    Thanks in advance,
    Sohrab

The only internal mini PCI card ones with N that I ever found were these from Sparklan and TP-Link:

I don't have one so can't tell if they would work with Windows Vista.

I tried an USB stick but it's a bit weird to have this installed all the time. What worked well was a US Robotics PC Card. It's this model, worked perfectly fine:

There is also the Gigabyte GN-WI03N-RH AirCruiser Mach N 300Mbps 802.11n MIMO Wireless-N Mini PCI card which I use and it works very well. Good sensitivity all around.

I've put the Sparklan WMIR-200N into my M1200. Works pretty well, is received at my Airport Extreme base station with about the best signal possible (-1dB). Which probably means it always sends full blast.. (battery? what's a battery anyways? and why is it complaining?)

btw, the "MIPS CPU" Sparklan versions are for embedded systems, where you run a simple operating system directly on the wireless card. More expensive and unnecessary on your tablet. Unless you want to do nerdy stuff like keeping a mesh network up when your laptop is in standby (and program that yourself!).

[edit] Connect the 'middle' antenna, this receiver only, and seem to control send gain. After connecting this the card does send on less than full blast
