Thread: Buying extended battery secondhand

  1. Default Buying extended battery secondhand

Howdy everyone. I am a new tablet user, I just ordered a refurbished le1600 for college. I have been reading your forums so I thought I would post a request for advice. I was looking for the extended battery to purchase, and I found a reseller at amazon who was selling an "open box" extended battery "like new" for $150. Seems like a really good deal (66% of brand new price), but I wanted to ask if it was a good idea to purchase. 90-day warranty, mostly good reviews, a few people who got sold junk but apparently got refunds. Here's a funny comment: "I bought this item as an 'open box' like new. when i got it, it had a weird sticky substance between the keyboard keys. Below the keys there was food and dried liquid remains. Additionally 5 buttons failed to function. (3 stuck and 2 non-functional). If i knew this would have been the status of the keyboard, i would never have bought it."

Seller response: "Please contact us for return. Sorry about it."

...still a super deal if it really is open box?

if he's got a good return record and your willing to take the risk go for it/ If you still have doubts though and that inner voice is saying no, wait for the next one to come up.

First, make sure the part number is correct. 504.201.02 is the extended battery for the LE1600. I say this because I've seen a LOT of the LS800 extended batteries for sale (p/n 505.201.02).

Pay by credit card. As a retailer, I can tell you that if you are even dissatisfied with a purchase, your credit card company will protect you (their customer) and not the seller. If the seller doesn't resolve the issue or explain why it isn't their fault, they will get charged back for the amount.
