I'm really late to the party, but a failed attempt to go from XP to Win 8 on my TC1100 prompted me to try Win 7. Thanks to all for the great info on setting up Win 7.
I wanted to add one more bit of info I found elsewhere regarding the best Wacom drivers. I've found the latest version that works without issue is 5.2.1-6 from the Wacom driver page (direct download link HERE or pick Window 7 from the drop-down on THIS page and scroll to the bottom). The pen still functions in some later versions, but the control panel settings app does not. So if you stick with the posted version, everything will work. I did initally have some problems completely removing my old driver and installing this one. But installing the driver in safe mode did the trick.
I also experimented with several nvidia video drivers, but the 82.10 version plus the posted fix works the best by far, much better than any earlier or later versions.
Windows update did update my SD card driver and SoundMAX driver, and both are still working. I use the 802.11n wireless card described HERE. It works beautifully in Win 7.
