Displays ST5111 Vs ST5112

How Viewable is the Indoor/outdoor display when outside? I am using the 5111 outside and it is fascistic. How will it compare to the 5112? Anyone compared these side-by-side?

Russ: It's been a couple of years since I compared the Fujitsu Indoor with their Indoor / Outdoor displays, but I suspect that my observations are still generally valid.

The most significant observation was that the Indoor / Outdoor display was noticeably better when viewed in higher ambient light conditions (think indirect sunlight on a partially cloudy, mid-summer day), but that overall, the two screens were not dramatically different. I think that the Indoor screen seemed a tad bit brighter / sharper indoors... but that was about it.

Neither screen did well in indirect sunlight on a clear, mid-summer day and, of course, were completely washed out in direct sunlight.

I thought that the Indoor / Outdoor screen was worth the extra money because I had the occasion to work outdoors, and even the modest improvement was worthwhile to me. Perhaps another forum member will post with more recent experience...

Hi Russ, I can echo Steve remarks, in that the ST5111 is impressive outside. It doesn't quite have the contrast of paper, or 'Eink' (which of course is always monochrome anyway) but it does a pretty fantastic job all the same. The ST5111, much like the ST5031D, is an out and out 'reflective' display. I've never seen the ST5112 outdoor display, but if it's a transflective display, I'd guess that its results outside won't be so great,

I think you'll be pleased with it. Fujitsu does a good job with their products, and the displays are always excellent...

I am very pleased with the display. For indoor and bright indirect sunlight the indoor/outdoor screen is excellent.
