I reviewed old threads and think I'll be "OK", but I'll ask anyway....
I just purchased an old LT-C500 from ebay, a mini dock and bump case. The LT will have W2000 on it. I'm going to use this unit on my sailboat and I'll use it in the mini dock with a mouse, keyboard, and a USB GPS. It'll run some navigation software I've been using on a laptop.

Can I plug my external DVD reader into the dock and upgrade to XP? Contrary to most others I don't care about the pen drivers as it's easier to use the "real" mouse with the nav software I run and I won't use the pen. W2000 is probably "OK", but XP seems to work better with wireless cards, etc.

I prefer the Tablet over the laptop as I (think) it'll draw less power, but mostly, be more reliable in that environment (I spilled beer on the last laptop and it failed).

Anyway, should I load XP or leave the thing alone?
