Hi All
Has anyone dared to open the TC1000? If so let me know how you got one
If you would like info on how to de assemble and reassemble your TC1000 I’ve found an excellent link on how to.
I have a idea ok it sounds a bit crazy I thing on opening my TC to upgrade the 256mb to 512MB this should take my system resouces to 1Gb of ram, I know Compaq advise that the system can be upgradeable to 768mb .

Wow, I thought everyone opened up their gear when they first got it. I had mine open the first day...my motion too.
Clearly and without a doubt you are the most special person here Ex_Spy_Guy. :D
Spy Guy, tell me about your ATI Radeon modification to your Motion. What did you do, how did you do it, where did you get the resources from?
The logic behind it is from Altera. They build silicon that you can program yourself to emulate almost any module. I have an SMD station at work I used to replace the intel graphics silicon, with a form fit and function piece of silicon from Altera, purchased a license for the ATI code, ran it through the simulator that comes with the Altera silicon and voila.
huh, very interesting... Is the graphics chip soldered onto the mainboard is does it have it's own daughter board off of the mainboard? You still only have the standard 16MB VRAM, I'm guessing. What kind of speed improvement did you witness after the modification?
Here is the thread I was talking about -

Reading it I don't think he ever got the TC1000 to boot with 1Gb of RAM in it.
[unworthy]Big Thank you Spencer mate
>>Is the graphics chip soldered onto the mainboard<< Yes
>.You still only have the standard 16MB VRAM, I'm guessing<< Correct unfortunately
>>What kind of speed improvement did you witness after the modification?<< No real speed, since there is no physical GPU, but with the logic set, when the software allows, there is some killer eye candy. Some games are a little more fluid, however.
