Thread: M200 and external 24" (1920*1200) monitor

    Default M200 and external 24" (1920*1200) monitor

    Hi,

I am trying to set up my M200 Nvidia-drivers to support a dual-screen setting with my M200's screen (1440*1050) as primary monitor and my 24" TFT (1920*1200) as secondary display ...
... BUT the drivers (NVidia 97.77 from laptopvideo2go.com) only let me to set up a maximum resolution of 1600*1200 for the external monitor.

What am I missing? Do I need even newer drivers from Nvidia? (how high in the number-count can I go with the M200?)

Thanks in advance for all your input and advice,
    eT

I use Nvidia driver 97.73 with my M200 at 1920x1200. You should take a look at the modified inf file to see if it lists 1920x1200 as a valid resolution for the driver you are using. If not, you might have to add the value by hand and then remove/reload the driver.

I don't use dual monitor so I don't know if that configuration is the source of your problem. Try running in single monitor mode with the external display to see if you can get to 1920x1200.

Both 1600*1200 and 1920*1200 are in the 97.77-.inf-file. (I can not find the 97.72 files anymore at laptopvideo2go.com]

Later, in Windows ["Display properties", then "Advanced" and then "Adapter" and on the page "List All Modes"] the 1920*1200 is NOT listed ... but how to get it listed? Which file (at which path) is windows reading here? Could I edit a file (w)here?

I do not manage to set my M200 to only use the external monitor. How are you managing this?

I use the nvidia settings taskbar icon. Right click on it and select nview display settings/single display/"external monitor name"

If you don't see the nvidia settings icon in your taskbar, enable it by opening the nvidia control panel and selecting Performance & Quality Settings/Tools. There is an option on that screen to enable the taskbar icon.

    thanks again.
I went into the NVidia-drivers. somewhere you can add 'costum settings' ... and before you can store them you have to 'test' them. therefore I do test them, without any effect. :(

    quite frustrated down here ...

all right, i did another test:
    i added resolutions lower than 1920*1200 ...
... and ended up being able to add 1919*1200 which later showed up in the display-resolution choice menu. but 1920*1200 it did neither test nor accept to store.

strange, isn't it? why can't I just add one more pixel??? :(

laptopvideo2go.com and driver 101.19 did the trick!

I just had to overinstall that version. Once installed the setup-programm asked for a restart and after loggin in again the setup-routine automatically came up with the right questions and I could easily chose 1920*1200 for my Eizo 24". everything running fine now!

off course the picture quality is not the extremely good: VGA cable at those resolutions tend not to be so crisp ... another reason why I am [cynism] happy [/cynism] that Toshi never brought out another Tablet PC with the screen resolution on the tablet like the one of the M200 [1400*1050 on 12"!] and DVI-out. saved me a lot of money as that way I can just stick with my M200 and no new investment needed!

thanks for the input. tabletpcbuzz rulez!
