I am not absolutely certain that either of these actually has a touch screen, but I am reasonably certain that neither of them has an active digitizer.

The reason I mention this, is that without an active digitizer, you may find that the "Tablet PC" experience you are seeking, is lacking. That is, depending on your application for the machine, you may be disappointed.

Also, I have seen some HP machines that had the tilt & swivel display that looked like this, that did *NOT* have touch screens - and did *not* have an active digitizer. I don't know how to tell from the description on pages you provided, if either or both machines are like that.

I don't see anything that specifically says that they have touch screens.

    Hi!

I am an owner of an HP TX1000 series, and WNewquay is correct, those with inking capabilities are touchscreens, not active digitizers. I am happy with the inking on mine, which I use pretty extensively, although those who are used to a Wacom digitizer will find it far inferior, and I'd have to say they are right, based on the smooth feel of my spouse's LE 1600.

It is also true that the lowest price models of the TX series do NOT have touchscreens, just screens that swivel. You want to carefully check the specifications and make sure it says "touchscreen". I didn't see that on either of the models you listed above.

Alternatively, until the 27th, you could try

    http://www.hp-webdiscounts.com/

I saw touchscreen TX series models there for $1050 or so with free shipping. New.

Alternatively, if you want an active digitizer, you might take a look at the classified here or over at GottaBeMobile.com for a good deal on a used model.

    Good luck,

    Sharon
