M1400 Onenote 100% CPU usage

I've been using the original Microsoft Onenote software (version 2003?) since I got my m1400 several years ago and recently have been having a problem with onenote. While using it, CPU usage jumps to 100% and the program freezes for several minutes before returning to normal. This occurs during normal usage and when trying to shut down the program. Does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this? This problem is incredibly inconvenient when trying to take notes. Thanks!

Update: Alright...this problem has been developing for a series of weeks now and at this point as soon as I write anything into Onenote the CPU usage jumps up to 100% and I can't use the tablet. And when erasing it takes a good 5 seconds to erase after the back and forth strokes. I'm downloading Sp3 right now to see if that helps. My tablet has now become useless for it's primary function... :(
