Dennis: Any effects if you rotate / tilt the screen?
Also where is your setting for docked / undocked screen brightness level; what is that setting, currently?
It's really annoying, but in the past, suspending and resuming once unplugged would have solved the problem. Now, I have to either plug it back in, or completely reboot it to get it to recover from the flickering problem. In the cases where I need to unplug, neither one is very convenient.
It seems to happen more when unplugging while it's on, rather than unplugging while it's suspended, then resuming, but both have happened. I can't seem to pinpoint the exact cause. I'm using XP, all of the latest drivers are installed, and there's nothing special about the display power configuration (It's not set to turn the display off after a few milliseconds, for sure!)
Any ideas?

No change upon rotating the screen, whether by the button or by Active rotate.
Power setting is a custom max battery level - it is supposed to go to level 0 brightness when I unplug but I always have to manually set the brightness anyway.

Dennis: I think there's a misunderstanding. I meant rotating / tilting the screen physically; that is, moving the screen and hinge to see if it might be a wiring problem caused by the moving parts...
Have you tried physically moving the screen to see if it causes any changes...?
Ah, on the hinge then. Well, tilting it from side to side on the hinge didn't change it. No change in the behavior when swiveling the screen around to slate mode either. I'm stumped. I would think if it was a wiring problem it'd be happening both on AC power and on battery.

I too have this issue on my 6366-7DU x60. Right now it is sitting beside me flickering away. If I plug in the adapter, it stops flickering; when I unplug it, it flickers. There are some other posts online about this but there doesn't seem to be solution at this point. I'm currently doing an automatic update of drivers etc. but I imagine this won't solve the problem given other posts.
I have seen people mention their tablets being sent back to Lenovo for repair but it recurs within weeks.
That's where I'm at on this for now...if anyone comes up with any other ideas, count me in!

Followup:
I may have solved the problem (at least in my case).
The issue was very reproducible just now: laptop sitting on my desk, in laptop mode, adapter plugged in. Unplug adapter: flicker. Plug it back in: no flicker.
I ran ThinkVantage System Update to check for new drivers. The first thing it did was update itself to version 3. This required a reboot, after which the problem was still present and reproducible as described above.
Then I ran System Update again. It found several updates for me. I checked all their version numbers and compared with the installed version numbers (courtesy of Add Remove Programs dialog). They were all newer (kudos to the System Update software!) Then I checked all the readmes and looked to see what each update had addressed (kudos to Lenovo for making this info easy to find!) I chose three updates to install:
- ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software v.5.6.1.3419
- ThinkPad Power Management Driver v.1.42
- Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection v.9.6.31.1
That install required a further reboot, after which the flicker problem appears to be gone. I have since converted to/from tablet several times, changed orientation manually and using the auto feature in tablet mode, plugged and unplugged the AC adapter, let the monitor go into shutoff using the power management software, and tested coming in and out of standby in both tablet and laptop mode.
It may come back, who knows. For now this appears to have done the trick (and I suspect the power management driver).
