Default Hi. I just want to hear if anyone else has Li

    Hi.

I just want to hear if anyone else has Linux installed on their M1200?

I would like to know what you are running. What OS and what software, problems you have solved and so on.

I have a page which describes what I have working and what I'm working on.

    Feel free to email me.

I have Windows server 2003 installed on mine. When you get the bugs worked out, I would love to install Red Hat on my Motion. When you get everything down pat, and get an installer with all the drivers, i will be happy to install your "distribution" on my gear.

Well, as a server it will do just fine, but until MotionComputing fix the broken BIOS I have little hope of getting the missing parts working perfectly.
The system work fine most of the time but occationally freezes (after running for 3 to 5 hours) when running X (the desktop). That doesn't happen when I disable power management (ACPI), but then I loose the powersaving features.
The monitor is restricted to 800x600 because of the BIOS.

I can help guide you through a dual boot installation if you want.

    Cheers
    Rene

(MotionComputing: ohh... look, another potential Linux user... hint hint hint ;) )

Q: What are you doing for things like the imput panel, or note taking like windows journal and such?

I have put a couple of utilities on my page that lets you draw notes. One is also a calendar.

If by "input panel" you are referring to the panel Motion Computing has made, then no, I have no such panel.
If you are talking about the buttons on the tablet, then I have some use for them. The arrows in particuler are nice to have. Other than "arrows+enter", "escape", and "logout" they don't do anything. I could configure them to do things, but haven't had a reason to do so yet.

I'm talking about the Imput Panel that is used to input charecters into places where Ink can't go (like the internet explorer address bar), and this isn't a Motion Computer product, it's made by Microsoft.

    Ah. Sorry about the delay.

Well. There is the on-screen keybooards that lets you do that.
I also tried "WayV" which also lets you do that with strokes. The way that works is like the windows input panel, except that it only takes one stroke at a time.

So basically, Yes. To be realistic, the handwriting recognition isn't to my likings.
The "grafitty" style input just doesn't appeal to me. It does however have som advantages over the MS product. You can define your own strokes and what they do (insert a character, start a program or whatever you choose)
I guess people who have a PDA would feel at home.
