I'm interested in a tablet for reading articles / note taking. The main features I am looking for is light weight and battery running time. So far it seems that the electrovaya has the longest running time but I do see some different numbers on it. In Laptop I read a time 4.5 hours on a similar Electrovaya slate. In a review here I saw 6 hours. Electrovaya claims 9 hours. What is the experience of the people in the forum using a sc3x00 series slate ?

It totally depends on how you use it and your power settings. I bet if you ran a CD or DVD non stop it would only last 4.5 hours. I have no intention of doing so ;) I get 6-8 hours on wifi running server software over my network. If I use dictation and print to a shared computer constantly, my battery goes fast..........
My rule of thumb now is, whatever the manufacturer says, cut it in half.

Running a dvd / cd player is not what I would be using it for. I'm not worried about that. I wonder though, when you run it as a server, is the screen turned off ?

    Thanks.

When I referenced a CD or DVD I was referring to the fact that running such software would be constant and intensive method of depleting the battery.
When I refer to the server, I am referring to running my medical software over my internal office network via a g wifi connection to my server in the other room. The screen goes off if I don't chart for 3 minutes. The wifi connection is NEVER off. Standby and hibernate are not options I can use as, if initiated, they would disconnect my network connection and risk corrupting open files.

The bottom line is your mileage will vary.

    hi,
I just received my SC3100 3 days ago. Actually i'm very very happy with the pc. But only the battery life is quite frustrated. I just got 5 hrs for normal use but 4++ hrs with WIFI on.

If electrovaya can upgrade the battery up to 9 hrs or more, i think this pc will be the best tablet pc in town.

Hopefully they will produce high capacity battery for sc3xxx in short period of time.

If you had your wifi constantly on, then your power savings must have been disabled or certainly not optimized?

I would hope it would be more. Check your power settings in the control panel and experiment with different profiles.
Just curious, if you had wifi on for 4++ hours, what exactly were you doing non stop? Were you just surfing around, listening to music, etc?

I think it' fair to say that you will get half of the manufacterers alleged time when you are using it constantly like you are. Older Scribblers got more time, I think, with the weaker CPU. Mine lasts all day 9-6) because I recharge for 1-2 hours at noon.
