    I have the Fujitsu docking station, and I have a couple of concerns. First, I use Dragon voice recognition heavily, and I have my microphone attached to the docking station. In between patients I'll go to the dock, attach the Tablet, and dictate. In general works well.

    BUT, I sort of wonder about whether the Dock is really geared toward docking and undocking 30 times a day. Seems to be making more noise when I attach and unattach now, and the latch doesn't seem as smooth. I'm not sure that it is really built for this type of heavy use.

    Also, when I unattach from the dock, it seems to take several, sometimes over 30 seconds, for the computer to recognize that the various USB devices are "unplugged". Takes this long for the Windows two-toned noise indicating each of the devices is now unattached. And during this time, some functions (such as switching windows on the bottom of the screen, and the Start menu) seem hung up/delayed. Anyone else experience this?

    For the above reasons, I'm using the Dock more selectively, when I'll be sitting down at the desk for awhile, rather than when I am on the move, fast, in between patients. I have to plug the USB microphone directly into the Tablet when I work in this manner if I want to dictate in between each patient visit.

    As with any mechanical device wear is a factor. The dock appears to be well built. While I do not dock and undock as frequently as you do, maybe half a dozen times a day, I have experiencend no problems. I do take great care in assuring proper alignment. I think your decsion to reduce the dock/undock frequency is probably a good one to extend the system life.

    As far as the delay in recognizing devices, with no system response for a period of time, this is normal. My experiences are the same.

    i have a dockign station at home and one at work.. at work i undock more often as i head in and out of meetings.. although not as often as yourself.. the two docking stations sound different in docking and undocking... but i think its just because they are mechanical things. I wouldnt worry about it too much.. :)

    Hardware.
    ============

    I just bought a Brand spanking NEW Fijitsu Stylistic Tablec ST4000 - P3 933mhz - added more Memory - Up to 760megs of memory - with docking station

    Problem
    ========

    When i try to do a hot un dock - i take the tablet out of the Docking station no problem. But when i put it back in the Docking station the TABLET freezes up?

    Factors ?
    ==========

    - I had a USB hub running off the Docking station. Un install the software and hardware from the Tablet and from the Docking station. Still freezes when i try to hot dock the tablet into the Docking station?

    - I have OFFICE 2003 Beta 2 on the Tablet?

    - My documents is being re directed to a network share drive?

    - I have a Sony CLIE PDA connected to my USB docking station? Yes i unplugged the PDA from the Docking station and tried to hot docking with the Tablet - still freezes up?

    - I have downloaded all the Service packs and updates from WIndows. Still having the problems docking?

    Any one have a clue?

    I called Fijitsu support and they stated that it is a hardware failure. And they want to ship out a new docking station? I find that hard to believe since i just bought the whole system last Friday. It is not even a week old. I really find hard to beleive that it is a hardware problem.

    Anyone else experiencing this problem to?
